Aston Martin's DBX S Leads a New Trio of 'S' Cars

Aston Martin has now put its sharpest badge on every car it sells, and the 717-horsepower DBX S is the one we keep coming back to.

The DBX707 spent a couple of years looking like the fastest Aston you could buy with four doors and a tailgate, and the DBX S has quietly ended that run. The new car slots in above it, wearing the 'S' badge Aston keeps for the hardest version of any given model, and it's the most potent SUV the brand has built so far.

It doesn't come on its own. The DBX S rounds out a three-car 'S' family with the DB12 S super tourer and the Vantage S sports car, and the three of them wore the badge together for the first time at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Aston has been putting an 'S' on its quickest cars since the DB3S racer of 1953, so the letter comes with some history behind it. Still, if you spend your weekends thinking about fitment and unsprung mass, the SUV is where to start.

The DBX S: more power, less mass

Under the hood sits the familiar 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, now running turbo hardware borrowed from the upcoming Valhalla: bigger compressor wheels and revised internals among the changes. Output climbs to 727 PS (717 bhp) at 6,250 rpm with 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque, a 20 PS step over the DBX707 it slots above. Aston quotes 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds and a 193 mph top speed, though a few outlets have listed the sprint closer to 3.3 seconds, so treat the exact figure as one to confirm against your own market's paperwork.

The weight numbers are the part worth reading twice. Aston offers up to 47 kg of savings across the DBX S, and a good chunk of it sits exactly where enthusiasts want it. A carbon roof cuts roughly 18 kg up high, carbon aero pieces trim another 7 kg, and an optional 23-inch magnesium wheel set takes up to 19 kg of unsprung mass out on its own. That last figure is the one to circle: pulling weight off the wheel itself does more for how a two-and-a-quarter-tonne SUV changes direction than almost anything else on the options list.

The DB12 S and Vantage S round out the family

The DB12 S takes Aston's "super tourer" and pushes the same 4.0-litre V8 to 700 PS at 6,000 rpm with 800 Nm on tap. It runs 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds and tops out at 202 mph. Aston says the transmission has been reworked for noticeably quicker shifts, citing more than a 50% improvement in gearshift time, and carbon-ceramic brakes are now standard, worth roughly 27 kg. It comes in both Coupe and Volante forms and is available to order now, with deliveries that Aston says began in Q1 2026.

The Vantage S is the smallest and, on paper, the most focused of the three. Its hand-built twin-turbo V8 makes 680 PS (670 bhp) and 800 Nm, good for 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds and the same 202 mph ceiling as the DB12 S. In its lightest configuration Aston quotes 399 PS per tonne, which tells you plenty about where the Vantage S wants to be used.

The DB12 S is the clearest on timing: order books are open in Coupe and Volante form, with deliveries starting in Q1 2026 per Aston Martin. The DBX S and Vantage S sit in the same current 'S' lineup, though exact US pricing across the range is best confirmed through an Aston Martin dealer, since the brand's model pages lead with specification rather than a single confirmed figure.
