Rivian R3
Rivian's upcoming 2027 R3 marks its smallest SUV yet, boasting a tall hatchback design with robust tires and raised ground clearance.
Forza Performance Group has already begun production of forged wheels with designs from forthcoming Rivian models. Order yours now: R2 and R3.
While specifics remain unclear, Rivian unveiled that the R3 will share a platform with the compact R2 SUV, and will introduce a performance-focused R3X variant. Expectations include single, dual, and tri-motor setups, coupled with two battery size options, with the larger one promising a range exceeding 300 miles. Interior aesthetics mirror Rivian's rugged-luxe blend, with fold-flat front and rear seats for versatile utility, ideal for car-camping excursions. Pre-orders are anticipated nearer to the launch, likely requiring online deposits. Upon release, the R3 and R3X will vie against competitors like the Kia EV6 and Volvo EX30 in the EV SUV segment.
While official battery specifications for the R3 and R3X are pending, it's speculated that they will offer Standard and Large pack variants, delivering differing ranges depending on the chosen powertrain. Considering the R2's estimated 300-mile range, it's plausible the R3 may surpass this figure slightly.
Comparatively smaller cabin dimensions hint at potentially reduced cargo space in the R3, yet it maintains similar interior finishes to its boxier sibling, the R2. Notably, both front and rear seats fold flat, enhancing versatility for long items and accommodating car-camping needs. Noteworthy features showcased in the debut model include a spacious glass roof, sporty ribbed seats, and Rivian's signature thatch-patterned floor mats. Interior storage compartments abound, complemented by dual gloveboxes and a front trunk accessed through the hood.
An imposing rectangular infotainment display dominates the R3's dashboard, serving as the central control hub for functions like steering adjustments, drive modes, and mirror settings. The user interface prioritizes simplicity, employing expandable tiles for individual features, with core options readily accessible. Notably absent are Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, though standard features are expected to include a Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless smartphone charging, and Amazon's Alexa voice assistant.
